The Vic Shield
Vic Shield – what does it mean?
At the conclusion of champions week Ovens and Murray was declared the winner of the Vic Shield, a huge honour.
Between that time and this, I have become aware of a number of people who do not know how the points are accrued for the calculation of the winning region-so here it is
At all the state events each region is allocated points depending on where the representatives of the region finish.
The points allocated are:
Winner of event 10 points
Runner up 5 points
Equal 3rd 3 points
Q’tr finals 2 points
Last 16 1 point.
For 2021-22 O&M region was allocated
Over 60’s singles – men 1 Over 60’s singles- women 2
Over 60’s pairs -men 3 Over 60’s pairs- women 3
Novice singles -men 5 Novice singles -women 2
State triples -men 3 State triples- women 5
State fours -men 2 State fours -women 1
State pairs -men 10 State pairs- women 2
State pairs mixed 10
C of C – men 1 C of C- women 1
State singles – men 5 State singles- women 10
A total of 65, 9 clear of the second placed region.
So Thankyou to Garry Sanders, Peter McLarty, Laureen Smith, Claire Sanders, Dave Allen, Pam Stewart, Chris Langdon, Adrian Pantling, Ian Brimblecombe, Anne Miles, Craig Fruend, Ethan Fruend, Jude Bartel, Mary Tregardh, Claire Megaritty , Jodie Fruend and Kylie Whitehead
These are the people who qualified and actually played in the rounds of the competition that gained points, (special thanks to the subs). But the bigger thanks has to go to the rest of our bowlers who entered the events and challenged the eventual region reps to solid workouts at the region level. The stronger the competition is at region level the greater the chance of performing well at the state level.
Congratulations to the whole region – Laureen
