Venues – Weekend Pennant Elimination/Qualifying Finals
Congratulations to all Sides that have made the finals. Find below a summary of the allocated venues, Conditions of Play including responsibilities of Side Captains, Host Clubs and Club Representatives.
The Pennant Committee is Mandating a 10.00am start due to the BOM forecasting extreme temperatures. You are reminded that in Finals all games are to be played out or until the leading side cannot be beaten. If the game is stopped due to the temperature reaching 38C then two options are available:

- wait until the temperature drops below 38C or,
- return and finalise the game the next day (recommence the game at the point at the time of cessation).
Subject to Host Club approval, games can commence earlier if both Sides agree, in an effort to ensure that a result can be achieved before the temperature reaches 38C.
To Side Captains – It is essential that the results are posted and validated/finalised on Bowlslink prior to the clubs leaving the Host Venue.

- Start Time. Games to commence at 1.00pm. Roll up at 12.45pm (times subject to change due to weather). Play 21 ends, no afternoon tea. Aggregate score to decide the winner. In the event of a tie, an extra end is played by all rinks to decide the result.
- Home Side. The first named team is to act as Home Side, ensure that Score Cards are made out, signed after the game and the results are entered on to BowlsLink immediately after the game.
- Away Side. The away side is to check team alignment and the results after the Home Side has entered the final result and if correct validate/finalise the results.
- The Side Captains. To collect $5.00 per player and hand to the Host Club Representative who will pay the Host Club. This fee covers the Green fees.
- The Host Club is to:
- Nominate a Club Representative who will assist the sides and collect the fees for the Host Club. Name of the Club Representative to be advised to the Regions Pennant Coordinator Mob: 0490 007 125 or email: pennantoandmbowls@gmail.com
- Arrange umpires. (if no club umpire available contact Laureen Smith, Chairman of umpires for assistance – 0488 652 459)
- Provide a Master Scoreboard and an attendant,
- Provide access to a computer for entering and validating results, and
- The Host Club may run a raffle to offset any additional costs associated with hosting the event.
- Teams are to use club coloured rings. If competing clubs have conflicting colours the “visiting team” is to use an alternative colour or no rings.
- Finals games are not abandoned, if games are postponed due to inclement weather the game must be completed later in the day or if that is not possible, the following day or a date to be advised by the Pennant Committee.

PENNANT RULES OF COMPETITION
RULE 8 FINALS. The conditions for the Pennant Finals are as follows:
8.1 All Finals are to commence at 1:00pm (Weekend Pennant) or 10.00am (Midweek Pennant) on the day programmed.
8.2 Allocated Venues will be made by the Pennant Committee at the end of the last home and away game. The two finalist sides are to agree on the venue allocated. Any objections to the allocated venue must be received by the Ovens and Murray Bowls Region Inc Chairman of the Pennant Committee, no later than Friday (Midweek Pennant) and Wednesday (Weekend Pennant) prior to the relevant Final being played. If agreement cannot be reached by the two competing Clubs, on an alternate venue, or the proposed Greens are not available , then the game will be played at the venue allocated by the Regions Pennant Committee.
8.3 The Finals are to be played under the ‘Page-McIntyre’ System for all Divisions. The conditions for the Finals are as follows:
8.3.1 Qualifying Final: 1st versus 2nd
8.3.2 Elimination Final: 3rd versus 4th.
8.3.3 Preliminary Final: Winner of Elimination Final versus loser of Qualifying Finals.
8.3.4 Final: Winner of Qualifying Final versus winner of Preliminary Final.
8.3.5 All Finals shall be played right out unless it is impossible for one side to win in the number of ends remaining in the game.
8.3.6 In Finals games, should sides obtain equal number of shots at the completion of the game, an extra end or ends shall be played by all rinks to decide the winners.
8.3.7 During the Finals of the Pennant competition, the club highest on the ladder will be deemed to be the home side.
RULE 9 Player Eligibility. A player must be a registered financial member of a Club, with Playing Rights, as recorded in BowlsLink, and in accordance with Rule 6 of the Bowls Vic Constitution.
9.1 Interchanging of a player between sides prior to finals:
9.1.1 Prior to the last four rounds of Sectional play there shall be no restrictions on the interchange of players between the sides of a Club. 9.1.2 For the last four rounds of Sectional play, no side will include more than three (3) players who have played the majority of their games, prior to the fourth last game, in a higher graded side.
9.2 Interchanging of a player between sides in finals.
9.2.1 A Side may not include any Player who, during the current season, has played less than four games for the Club (whether completed or not) in that actual competition (the Weekend Pennant and the Midweek Pennant competitions are separate competitions and games played in one competition do not count towards Player eligibility in the other competition).
9.2.2 In any Post-Sectional match a Side will not include any Player who, during the current season, has played more than four games (whether completed or not) in the Clubs higher graded Sides unless the Player has also played in four or more games in the Side concerned and/or lower graded Sides.
9.2.3 A Club who has insufficient eligible players for any finals may apply to the Pennant Committee for approval to play other players from the Club. If approval is granted, then such players may play in any position other than Skip.
9.3 Where a Club has two Sides in a Division the following qualification will apply to Sides in that respective Division (eg. Two Sides in Division A2):
9.3.1 at the conclusion of the 4th last Round the Region’s Pennant Committee will name 12 players in each Side as ‘belonging’ to that particular Side, and as such, ineligible for interchange between the two Sides in the same Division.
9.4 If any club has insufficient members available (under Rule 9.2) it can apply to the Pennant Committee for permission to play another nominated member or members and if permission is granted such member or members can play in any position other than Skip.
