Funeral details for Jack Lillis –  Thursday 19th October at 10am at St. Pauls Anglican Church, Clyde St. Myrtleford.

VALE W J (Jack) Lillis – (1930-2023)

Myrtleford Bowls Club has advised of the the passing of Life Member and past Secretary, Jack Lillis.

Jack was a well known and respected bowler within our Region. He represented his club, O&M Group 6 and the Ovens and Murray Bowls Region at the highest level of bowls that the region competed in. Jack won many titles and represented our Region as a member of the Regional (Group) Sides for many years and was an extremely competitive player in O&M Group 6 Central Association making the finals of the O&M Group 6 State championships and, in recent times, O&M Region State Events.

Jack will be sadly missed and our thoughts go out to his wife Joan and family.

JACK LILLIS BOWLS PROFILE

Jack joined the Myrtleford Bowls Club in September 1979 after thirty four years playing cricket. Highlights of his cricketing days were: one year at Country Week he took nineteen wickets for ninety six runs in three games. His best club figures were nine wickets for twenty two runs and on one occasion he took two hat tricks in one innings with figures of seven for eleven. He was a club delegate for thirty two years and Association president for fourteen years and became a life member.

His first bowls pennant game was on 10th January 1980 when he played in B grade, he then played in A3 for two years before making A1. Overall he has played forty three (43) years for the Myrtleford Bowls Club. Jack played played more than thirty years without missing a game. Up until the age of 98 jack was a regular member of the Myrtleford Weekend Pennant A1 Side.

He was a committeeman for in excess of twenty nine years, past president, secretary for fifteen years, club delegate for twenty years and is a life member of Myrtleford Bowls Club.

At O&M Group 6, Central Association level he served four terms as president and is a life member.

At O&M Group 6 he served three terms as president and is a life member.

In 2003 he was awarded the RVBA Medal of Merit. He has his name on club honour boards as winner of club events seventeen times, he has won nine O&M Group 6 Central Association titles and has represented the O&M Group 6 Central Association for many years.
