OVENS & MURRAY versus ALBURY & DISTRICT and RIVERINA WOMEN’S BOWLING ASSN.

The annual Competition between Ovens & Murray and Albury and District was played at Holbrook BC on Sunday 13th of October.

This year for the first time Ovens & Murray Women played against Riverina Women’s Bowling Assn. at the same venue, which provided a great opportunity for further participation for both sides to assist in future selection of representative sides.

Holbrook BC provided very good hospitality for the event, and were a little disappointed their greens were slower than normal due to a downfall of rain on Friday which flooded the greens.

For the second year in succession the Men’s Event for the Jack Beck Shield went down to the last bowl and Ovens& Murray were successful by 1 shot.

Albury and District won the first game by 1 shot, 93 to 92 with both sides winning 3 rinks, and O & M won the second game by 2 shots, 93 to 91, again each side winning 3 rinks. A great day’s competition between two evenly matched sides.

The Official Rink skipped by Ian Bilney retained the Bill Trethown Trophy, winning game 1 by 6 shots and losing game 2 by 2 shots, giving an aggregate of 31 to 27 shots

The rink of Ashley Bates (S), Shaun McMahon, Kyle Pugh and Rob Bartel were the most successful rink with 2 wins + 5 shots
