Results – Mixed Pairs and Men’s Champion of Champions
MIXED PAIRS FINAL
This was a great game of draw bowling between Ian Brimblecombe (S) and Anne miles Aa composite team against Les Spencer (S) and Laureen Smith, from YMGCR.
Scores were 2 all after 3 ends with Les and Laureen scoring 5 shots over the next 4 ends to lead 7 / 2 but Ian and Anne bounced back with 4 on the 8th and single on the 9th and 4 on the 10th end to lead 11 / 7 Les and Laureen score 3 on end 11 and 2 on end 12 to lead 12 / 11. Ian scored 3 on end 13 followed by their opponents scoring 2 on end 14 to level the score14 all. Ian’s team scored consecutive 3’s on ends 15 & 16 to lead 20 / 14.
Les and Laureen scored 3 on end 17 and were holding 3 shots on the final end but Ian was able to draw 2nd shot to win the final 20 / 18 and will represent O & M at Champions Week in May.
RESULTS OF THE MENS CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS AND THE MIXED PAIRS
The Champion of champion for both Men and Women and the Mixed Pairs were finalised at
Corowa RSL on Sunday 13th of March in great weather and good greens, and the many spectators were treated to very high class bowling and competition.
SEMI-FINAL OF MENS CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS
Geoff Tozer from Rutherglen played Damian O’Connor from Benalla started with both players p-laying well and after 5 ends were 3 all, Damian scored 2 on end 6 followed by geoff1 on end 7 and Damian 3 on end 8 to lead 8 / 4. Geoff scored consecutive 3’s on ends 9 10 and 11and singles on 12 an13 to lead 15 / 8. Damian replied with singles on ends 14 and 15, but Geoff increased the lead with a 3 on the 16th and 2 shots on ends 17 & 18 and a single on th19th to lead 23 /10. Damian scored single shots on ends20 & 21 but Geoff scored singe shots on the next 2 ends to win through to the Final against Ethan Fruend .
FINAL OF MENS CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS
Ethan started well scoring 4 shots on end 1 and 1 on end 2, Geoff scored 2 2 and 1 on ends
3,4 and 5 to level the score 5 all. Ethan playing full length ends scored 9 shots over the next 4 ends to lead 14 /6, single shots alternated on ends 11, 12 and 13 with Ethan leading 20 / 7.
Geoff scored 5 shots over ends 15, 16 & 17 to trail 20 /12, Ethan picked up 2 on end 18 followed by Geoff scoring 2 on each of the next 2 ends and a single end 21 to trail 17 /22.
Ethan scored a 2 on end 22 and a single on end 23 to win the Champion of Champions and will represent O & M at Champions Week in May.
