Results – Men’s 60 and Over Pairs Finals
The Finals of the Men’s 60 & Over Pairs were played at YMGCR today (30 Jan) on a very good Green In fine sunny conditions with a gusting breeze throughout the day.
The YMGCR Team of Les Spencer (S) and Gary Presnell withdrew from their Semi-Final which gave Peter McLarty Skip and Garry Sanders a bye into the Final.
Semi Final – the Semi-Final between Chris Langdon (S) and Ian Baskett from Rutherglen and Lance Symons (S) and Greg Robbins from Myrtleford was a great contest with Chris Langdon Leading 11 / 4 after 9 ends, when Lance Symons moved the jack to the back to claim 5 shots and close the gap to 11 / 9. Both teams scored single shots on alternate ends for the next 3 ends with the Rutherglen team 13 / 11 going into the final end when the Myrtleford boys scored 4 shots to progress to the Final 15 / 13
FINAL
The Final between Peter McLarty and Garry Sanders against Lance Symons and Greg Robbins was another great contest showing what can be achieved by staying in the game.
Peter’s team got away to a flying start scoring 12 shots to nil in the first 5 ends, but did not score for the next 8 ends when the Myrtleford team had levelled the scores at 12 all. Peter and Garry scored 3 shots on end 14 to lead 15 /12 going into the last end when Lance and Greg could only score 1 shot, giving Peter and Garry a win in the 60 & Over Men’s Pairs and will represent O & M at the Playoffs from 16th to 18th of February at the Bendigo BC.
