Results – Ladies Bowls Vic State Champion of Champions
Today (Sunday) at Corowa RSL saw the finalisation of the Ladies and Mens Champion of Champions and the final of the Mixed pairs.
There were four Ladies played out the Champion of champions, Jodie Fruend Wangaratta, Sharon Warfe Benalla, Jude Bartel Kiewa and Mary Tragardh Yackandandah.
Both semi finals were very tight affairs coming down to the wire in both games.
The match between Jodi Fruend and Sharon Warfe was level at 19/19 on the 24th end. Sharon won four out of the next five ends to win 25/20 and secured a place in the grand final.
The match between Jude Bartel and Mary Tragardh was a similar scenario being 20/19 on the 27th end. Mary went on to win four out of the next five ends to also win 25/20
The final was set for another top game and the ladies did not disappoint! It was a very close game with Mary just in front throughout. Sharon stayed within range to pick up a four on the second last end to even it up at 24 all. With it being anyone’s game Sharon held four shots to secure victory but Mary had one last bowl. Mary hit the shot of Sharon’s that was sitting on the jack to push it back to her bowl waiting at the back. Well done to both ladies, it was an amazing final and you both can be very proud.
