Pennant – Documentation and Vaccination Requirements

Pennant Documents.    A number of queries have been received regarding Pennant Documentation for the coming season. Documents pertaining to Pennant can be found on the website under the heading PENNANT – Pennant Documents. Additionally under this same heading is a link to a Webinar on entering of teams and results.

Vaccination Requirements.   Everyone should now be aware of the Victorian State Government requirements for anyone to play community sport or enter clubs they must be “double vaccinated’ or have an approved medical exemption. The Region’s Board also implemented a similar policy for all Ovens and Murray Bowls Region Inc for bowls events.

A number of requests have been received by the Pennant Committee for dispensation for bowlers who have only received one vaccination. Unfortunately, the Pennant Committee is not empowered to provide an exemption. Additionally, the Pennant Committee will not be setting a policy on proof of vaccination when attending clubs. Under the CHO Directives for both Vic and NSW it is a club responsibility to see proof of vaccination (digital copy, hard copy certificate or vaccination record)  when members and patrons attend their club. Providing a list of player vaccination status from visiting clubs would not meet the current Directive as this is not an acceptable document to prove vaccination status.

Clubs should note that should the play an unvaccinated player a penalty may apply and could mean a loss of points for that game. Any penalty will be applied by the Region’s Board.

All going to plan will see Pennant get underway Friday/Saturday this week. We wish all players and clubs a successful season and it is hoped that we do not have any more disruption.
