Final of State Pairs

Today at Wangaratta Bowls Club the Final series of the region’s State Pairs were finalised.

Conditions were perfect under sunny skies and very little breeze, which enabled spectators to witness some very fine competitive bowls throughout the day.

Ladies 

The ladies semi results were Kylie Whitehead Wodonga and Mary Tragardh Myrtleford defeated Jodie Fruend and Renee Hill – Wangaratta 23/7 and Anne Miles and Claire Sanders YMGCR defeated Cheryl Raduzic and Jill Woods – Bright 24/6

In a very hard fought final it came down to the last bowl to decide the winner.  Kylie and Mary getting over the line by one shot.  15/14  Well done and congratulations!

Men

The first men’s final saw some very good bowls by all. Mason Bayliss and Josh Rudd – Wodonga were too strong for the Howlong combination of John Boyd and Brad Blanchard winning 23/1

The men’s semifinals then got underway with Ian Brimblecombe – Wangaratta and Rob Mitchell Benalla defeating Adrian Pantling and Ethan Fruend Wangaratta 17/12  

The other semifinal saw Mason & Josh defeat Maurie and Greg Braden 17/8

The final men’s match of the day was another nail biter with Ian and Rob two up going into the final end.  Josh and Mason secured a great shot but were unable to conjure up a second to draw and take it to an extra end.

Congratulations to everyone who reached the final rounds and we wish our winners all the best in Bendigo for the State Championships
