RESULTS OF STATE EVENTS PLAYED AT YMGCR ON SUNDAY 16TH FEBRUARY

WOMENS STATE FOURS

Semi-Final

Jude Bartel (S), Carol Fair,Heather Schliebs, and Margaret Bates

from Kiewa Valley defeated Kerri Leask (S),Sue Middleton, Beth Parker and Rhonda Irvine a composite team 20 / 14

Final

This was a very good game with Jude Bartels team playing Kylie Whitehead (S)

Anne Miles, Claire Sanders and Laureen Smith. Scores were level after 6 ends 4 all, when Kylies team set up a break to lead 15 / 7 after 13 ends. At this point Jude’s team began their fightback scoring 2 shots on end 14, single shots on the next 2 ends and 2 on end 17 to trail by 2 going into the final end 13 / 15.

Jude’s team scored 3 on the last end to win the Women’s State Fours and will represent Ovens & Murray Region at Champions Week in April.


MEN’S STATE FOURS FINAL

Ian Brimblecombe (S), Mark Bell, Ethan Fruend, and Craig Fruend from Wangaratta played Josh Rudd (S), Mason Bayliss, Paul Davies and Ray Moon from Wodonga. Ian’s team set up an early lead 7 / 3 after 6 ends, and lead 14 / 7 after 13 ends. Josh scored a 1 and 2 on the next 2 ends, followed by Ian scoring 3 on end 16 to lead 17 / 10. Josh scored 4 shots over the last 2 ends, but Ian’s team won the Final 17 / 14 and will represent Ovens & Murray at Champions Week.


MEN’S PAIRS

Ian Brimblecombe (S) & Mark Bell from Wangaratta played Thomas Webb (S) & Paul Davies a composite team in the Final of the Men’s State Pairs.

Ian set up an early lead of 7 / 1 after 6 ends, and lead 12 / 7 after 10 ends, Ian scored 3 singles over the next 3 ends to lead 15 / 7 after 13 ends. Thomas scored 4 single shots in the next 4 ends to trail 11/15 going into the last end where Ian and Mark added 2 shots to win 17 / 11 and will represent Ovens & Murray at Champions Week for the second consecutive year, which a great achievement.
