Results – O&M State Pairs & Novice championships

The finals of the O&M Novice championships and the Continuation of the State Pairs were held at Corowa Civic Sunday 13th December

Weather conditions were perfect for both players and spectators and the greens were to everyone’s liking making for some great games during the day.

Novice Singles

The ladies Novice was won by Kim Johnston from Yarrawonga who has now taken out the title for the second year.  Kim is also representing O&M at Warrnambool in January for the 19-20 season state title.  We wish Kim all the best.  Her opponent from Rutherglen Eloise Seymour was a worthy runner up and we congratulate her for reaching the final.

In the Men’s novice Josh Huggins from Corowa RSL played David Sully from Wodonga.  A very well contested game with Josh coming out on top. Congratulations to both men for reaching the final and we wish you well in your bowling careers.

O&M President Laureen presented the players with their medals at the conclusion of their games.

State Pairs

The post sectional play of the State Pairs was also held.  In the morning rounds  Kerri Leask and Sue Middleton played Laureen and Rohanna Smith.  All players played some great bowls but Kerri and Sue were the victors outplaying Laureen and Rohanna on this occasion.

The men’s rounds were played on the same green.  A Pantling Wangaratta defeated M. Braden Wangaratta,  J LeFevre YMGCR defeated M Szarbo YMGCR, Ray Irvine YMGCR  defeated I Brond Benalla, GMcDonald Wangaratta defeated M Bell Wangaratta.

The next and final rounds in the afternoon were Ray Irvine and Peter Velardo defeated Greg McDonald and Craig Fruend in an exciting game that went to an extra end.  Adrian Pantling and Ethan Fruend defeated Jimmy and Andy Le Fevre YMGCR.

Anne Miles and Claire Sanders defeated Mary Tragardh and Kylie Whitehead and Kerri Leask and Sue Middleton had another win defeating Jodie Fruend and Renae Hill.

The Men’s final will be played at Corowa Civic Sunday 20th December at 9.30am and the women’s final will be played at a date yet to be finalised.

The O&M match committee wish to thank Corowa Civic for their greens and hospitality, the players, spectators and umpires, everyone witnessed many great bowls throughout the day.
