CANCELLED – Weekend Pennant Round 13

Due to the predicted extreme heat over the next few days culminating in the temperature predicted to reach 43C-44C across our region on Saturday the Pennant Committee feels that it has no choice but cancel Round 13.

The decision was not taken lightly as the committee recognise the disruption due to the bush fires and the Round being the 2nd last before the finals has not been good for our season.

However, the decision was balanced against the following:

  • having an early start time – 10.00am. This was considered not an option as the predicted temperature will exceed 38C by 12 noon at most venues.
  • most venues are in the west and top end of our region.
  • there are still active fires in our region and the probability new fires are likely due to the extreme heat and anticipated increase in winds and possible dry lightening.
  • the data used in the final decision was the predicted temperature by BOM as per the following table:
