Cancelled – Weekend Pennant Round 10

As a result of the ongoing bush fires and possible escalation on Thursday and Friday  and through feedback from clubs the Pennant Committee has cancelled this coming round of Weekend Pennant. Decision to cancel any further rounds of Midweek and Weekend Pennant will be made on a round by round basis.

Currently the situation at clubs in the fire affected regions are:

  • Corryong – restricted access, limited or no power and property damage to farms and houses (Club ok)
  • Tallangatta – members tied up with relief support including driving buses in and out of Corryong
  • Bright – restricted access and on a Watch and Act warning
  • Myrtleford – on Watch and Act warning
  • Milawa – in a fire threatened zone and farmers do not wish to leave their properties
  • Moyhu – many members reside in or close to Watch and Act zone
  • Club Mulwala – programmed to play at Milawa, a Watch and Act zone
  • Yarrawonga –  programmed to play at Bright, a Watch and Act zone
  • Benalla – concerned for teams travelling to Beechworth and Mansfield
  • Others – concerned on health and safety issues due to smoke and many are involved in providing support services eg CFA, Relief Centres, Emergency Services etc

The committee feel all clubs understand the situation and reasons for cancellation and will bare with us as we make further cancellation decisions going forward. Our stance is that our members come first and we recognise the the difficult and stressful times faced by people in the fire affected areas of our region.

Please stay posted to this site for further updates regarding Pennant.
