Results – O&M State Singles Finals

RESULTS OF O & M STATE SINGLES PLAYED AT BENALLA BC SUNDAY 24TH NOVEMBER

 The Finals of the O & M State Singles were played at Benalla BC on Sunday on excellent greens and fine sunny weather, which saw the completion of  the event for both Men & Women.

WOMEN

The Women’s State Singles had reached the Semi-Final stage on the first day of the event.

Semi-Finals

Kylie Whitehead defeated Laureen Smith 25/6

Peta Mattys defeated Claire Sanders in a high quality match 25/22

Final

This was a high quality Game with Kylie leading 14/5 after 9 ends, when Peta started her comeback winning 3 of the next 4 ends to trail 10/15. After 19 ends the gap had closed to 2 shots with Kylie leading 17/15, and after 22 ends it was 18 all. Kylie scored 1 on end 23, but Peta scored 5 shots in the next 3 ends to lead 23/19 after 26 ends. Kylie close the margin to 2 trailing 21/23 but Peta scored the required 2 shots to be the Ovens & Murray Women’s State Singles Champion for the 2019 -20 Season and will represent us at Champions Week in April in Bendigo. This was an excellent game witnessed be the many spectators in attendance and both players can be justly proud of their performance.


MEN

The Men’s State Singles had reached the Quarter Final stage on the first day of the event.

Mason Bayliss defeated Sam Beaton          25/15

Tyson Cromie defeated Mark Moran          25/10

Ian Brimblecombe defeated David Lindsay 25/14

Patrick OShea defeated Chris Langdon        25/17

Semi-Finals

Tyson Cromie defeated Mason Bayliss         25/19

This Semi-Final was between two of O & M Regions young stars, with Mason winning the majority of ends but Tyson scoring heavily with his weighted shots which proved the difference in the game.

Ian Brimblecombe defeated Patrick OShea 25/10 to reach the Final

FINAL

Ian Brimblecombe defeated Tyson Cromie 25/11 in a very entertaining Final and will represent O & M at Champions Week in Bendigo in April
